TangleHUB joins the Touchpoint Open Builders Program

PIPE: Scalable, Immutable Data Storage

The latest addition to the Touchpoint Open Builders Program, TangleHUB is a Netherlands-based team responsible for PIPE, a decentralized data storage and communication infrastructure for any use case, from edge micro-storage to high-frequency IoT and communication applications. By joining Touchpoint, TangleHUB introduces PIPE to the Shimmer Ecosystem to provide developers with a highly scalable and IOTA-native alternative to InterPlanetary File System (IPFS).

We believe that users should regain control of their data. PIPE makes it simple and secure to store and manage your data, whether you want to keep it private, share it with someone you trust, or sell it on a data market.

PIPE immutably stores and transfers data of any type. Its storage and transfers can be used for a wide range of applications, from edge micro-storage to high frequency and high bandwidth applications in IoT, DID and NFT, by basically any company or developer who requires this type of storage.

PIPE can scale and keep data storage costs stable by anchoring data channels on Layer 1 and moving the bulk of data throughput to Layer 2. By separating the trust function from throughput, there is virtually no limit to how much data can be stored, while still retaining the trust levels from the IOTA/Shimmer network.

Because of its scalability and consistent costs, PIPE is a critical component in launching widespread web3 adoption. The ability to store large amounts of data immutably while maintaining granular control over who has access to it will elevate crypto beyond financial instruments. It will transform data ownership.

Since 2017, the TangleHUB team has been a member of the IOTA community, building on top of the Tangle. Examples of our work include the first Ledger implementation, ION communication, and Freighter. PIPE was designed to support our own TangleHUB products, but with the interest of many IOTA developers and a lack of reliable storage options, we decided to open-source it and let everyone benefit from the ability to store and transfer data at scale. As an experienced team, we cover development, marketing, and finance.

PIPE came to life after a five-year development cycle in which we introduced several independent products, as previously mentioned. Decentralized data storage is the keystone that enables users to take full control of their data.

PIPE is being tested with selected partners and will publicly launch its beta in October 2022. This is a setup to present the development roadmap, lite paper, and announce the pre-ICO. With the pre-ICO, future network node owners can secure the stake required to offer storage services and benefit from the network's increased value, while we use the proceeds to finalize PIPE 1.0.”
